salt pic

Typically fired to 2340 degrees Fahrenheit, this firing process is the same as a standard high fire with one exception. At the end of the firing (the last 50 degrees), salt or soda is introduced into the kiln by means of spraying or salt burritos. The salt and/or soda then vaporizes, causing glazes to melt a little more leaving beautiful colors and textures on any unglazed surface.
